What is Purple Values Organization trying to accomplish?
We’re here to ignite change, and we seek to inspire moderate candidates and voters who embrace centrist positions to realize that victory isn’t just a distant hope—it’s an achievable reality in both primary and general elections. It’s vital for candidates to understand that there is a supportive base of voters ready to stand by them. Likewise, moderate voters hold significant power, but it’s time for them to rally together and actively engage.
The mission of Purple Values Organization is to facilitate this transformation.
Moderate voters possess incredible potential as a dynamic political force. To truly harness this power, moderates should:
- Unite as a Coherent Voting Bloc: It’s essential for moderates to come together and present a united front. By aligning their votes around shared centrist values, they can create a powerful voice that resonates with candidates and the broader political landscape.
- Participate Actively: Instead of remaining on the sidelines, moderate voters must take an active role in the electoral process. Through engagement, they can influence the selection of candidates and shape the policies that reflect their balanced perspectives.
- Exercise Voting Influence: Every vote matters, particularly in primary elections. By turning out to vote consistently, moderate voters can make their presence felt and demonstrate that they are a significant and influential segment of the electorate.
The Purple Values Organization is dedicated to galvanizing moderate voters and educating them about the importance of uniting as a cohesive force, particularly during primary elections. Through education, organization, and collective action, Purple Values aims to showcase that moderate viewpoints not only have merit but can also secure victory.
It’s time for moderate voters to realize their potential and be a driving force in shaping the political landscape. Purple Values is here to empower them on this journey toward impactful change.
Why are moderate voters fractionalized?
The fractionalization of moderate voters has occurred due to distinct patterns:
- Social Issue Prioritization: Moderate voters who place importance on social issues tend to align with the Democratic Party. Their voting decisions are influenced by their support for progressive social policies.
- Fiscal/Economic Issue Focus: On the other hand, moderate voters who emphasize fiscal and economic matters often lean toward the Republican Party. Their preferences are shaped by a desire for fiscal responsibility and pro-business policies.
- Independent Voters’ Divide: Independent voters, a key component of moderation, distribute their support between both major parties. Their diverse beliefs lead to a split in their political affiliations.
- Decline in Participation: A significant number of moderate voters have withdrawn from active participation in the political process. This absence has weakened the influence of moderates within their respective parties, leaving those who engage with limited support.
To address this situation, Purple Values has a clear mission:
By unifying moderate voters and fostering balanced political conversations, Purple Values aims to restore relevance to Moderates within the political sphere. The objective is to create a renewed sense of purpose for moderates in the political landscape.
The vision for a united and engaged Purple Values voting bloc holds immense potential:
Through unity, informed discussions, and active involvement, Purple Values envisions a formidable force emerging within primary elections. This consolidated voting bloc has the power to propel moderate Democrats and Republicans to positions of influence and leadership.
In essence, Purple Values stands as a catalyst for change, seeking to mend divisions among moderates, facilitate moderated political dialogues, and elevate the influence of Moderates in the political process. The aspiration is for a united and engaged Purple Values voting bloc to become a driving force that shapes primary outcomes and elects moderate candidates from both parties.
How did Purple Values Organization start?
Two long-time friends maintained a three-decade friendship, brought together, in part, by differing political affiliations: one identified as an Independent-Democrat, and the other as a Republican. Despite their affiliations, both shared a mutual appreciation for the importance of social compassion and fiscal responsibility. Their regular political discussions centered on these common values. Notably, their disagreements often stemmed from contrasting interpretations of constitutional matters, leading to occasional misunderstandings.
Both friends encountered difficulties within their respective parties due to extreme factions. The growing polarization within American politics made it challenging to elect candidates who didn’t cater to these extreme elements. The most concerning aspect was that these factions wielded substantial influence. By participating fervently in primary elections, contributing financially, and dedicating their time as volunteers, they effectively shaped the selection and success of candidates who aligned with their radical views.
Recognizing this predicament, the friends arrived at a significant realization: the most effective strategy to counteract the intensifying political polarization was to rally moderate Democrats, moderate Republicans, and swing voters who gravitate towards balance. This epiphany laid the foundation for Purple Values, an initiative born from the idea of uniting individuals who prioritize moderation and reason in political discourse.
In essence, Purple Values emerged as a response to the escalating polarization in American politics. It seeks to bring together individuals from across the moderate spectrum, irrespective of their partisan leanings, with the shared goal of promoting more balanced and inclusive political dialogue.
What are the beliefs of Purple Values Organization?
Purple Values encompasses three core principles:
- Social Compassion: In a political landscape often marked by divisive identity politics (from both sides) and polarizing stances, Purple Values seeks to bridge the gap. Centrist voters, recognizing the value of compromise, strive to find common ground and embrace solutions that incorporate a multitude of perspectives.
- Fiscal Responsibility: The stewardship of taxpayers’ money by federally elected officials has come into question. As a core principle, Purple Values emphasizes the need for accountability and prudence in financial matters, urging for responsible and efficient allocation of public funds.
- Constitutional/Judicial Adherence: The proper functioning of the judicial system is paramount. Purple Values advocates for judges and justices to interpret and apply laws faithfully, rather than engaging in the creation or alteration of laws from the bench. It also underscores the importance of Congress embracing its constitutional duties by enacting laws and constitutional amendments, without relying excessively on judges, justices, or unelected regulators to carry out elected responsibilities.
In essence, Purple Values is rooted in these three fundamental components, reflecting its commitment to fostering unity, prudent financial management, and adherence to constitutional principles.

What is Purple Values Organization’s Mission?
Purple Values Organization’s mission is to identify, educate, and unify voters regarding fiscal responsibility, social compassion, and constitutional adherence, thereby, moving the dialog away from political extremists toward centrist views.
Is Purple Values a political party? Why not become a third party?
No. Purple Values is not a political party.
Between 20% to 30% of American voters hold fiscally responsible, socially compassionate points-of-view. We are a large enough group to be a political force, within the existing party structure, but not large enough to be a viable independent political party.
What are Purple Values’ positions on various controversial issues?
In line with our mission and values, policy positions must embody social compassion, fiscal responsibility, and constitutional adherence. We firmly believe that these core values are essential for achieving sustainable and enduring policies. Any policy that disregards or undermines these values will exacerbate divisions within our society.
Policy positions will be determined collaboratively in conjunction with our membership. If you’re interested in contributing to these discussions and helping find solutions, we encourage you to join and actively participate.
As a moderate organization, we anticipate our members will adopt centrist positions on most issues. While our final position on every issue may not perfectly align with your ideals, our objective is to establish positions that you and most moderates will comfortably embrace.
In 1992, Ruth Bader Ginsburg cautioned against the development of doctrinal positions that were formed hastily or without strong constitutional grounding. She believed that decisions made on weak constitutional foundations would lead to legal and societal instability. Purple Values shares this concern and recognizes that many of the divisions facing the nation today are rooted in constitutionally weak doctrines. As a result, one of Purple Values’ primary goals is to provide a forum for open discussions on a range of important topics, including constitutional issues. By encouraging a deeper understanding of the Constitution, Purple Values seeks to foster a more informed and united society, reducing polarization through education and dialogue.
